The Nissen Family

We are honored that you are here to discover more about the Nissen Family! Our family is made up of CJ (47), Becky (45), Tayte (19), Deacon (17), Asher (15), and Louie… our handicapable cockatiel with anger issues.

CJ and Becky met as teenagers and got married 25 years ago. We’ve always been partners in ministry and best friends.

Ministry

CJ has been honored to serve the Lord vocationally for almost 25 years. He’s served as student pastor, church planter, outreach pastor, and has about a decade of experience as a lead pastor.

He holds a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministry. You can check out his resume here.

Throughout CJ’s ministry, he’s had a heart for serving our community’s first responders. He’s had the privilege of serving as a Chaplain to several fire, ems, and police departments. In addition, CJ has been a licensed Firefighter II and EMT since 2004 and has served as both a volunteer and career firefighter. He even wrote a series of devotionals using his experience as a firefighter to illustrate the tactics of spiritual warfare. Check it out at www.fightingfire.blog

CJ has also led many mission trips, whether they are local, disaster relief, or international trips to Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, and Trinidad.

CJ is an evangelist at heart and loves sharing the hope of Jesus. Every believer should be regularly challenged to join Jesus’s rescue mission in the spaces and places that he gives us to influence.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Hobbies

The Nissens love to travel and find adventure! We usually head somewhere warm to escape the winter blues and have found ourselves all over the US, Central America, and the Caribbean.

We enjoy a lot of outdoor activities. Boating and watersports are probably our favorite outdoor activity. We also enjoy a good hike and love bombing the urban landscape on our souped-up electric scooters.

Becky likes to shoot people… she is an excellent photographer. You can check out her work at Aion Design Media. She also loves to sing and play keyboard. And she makes a mean cup of coffee!

Tayte (19) is our deer slayer. He also enjoys working on engines and playing guitar. You can usually find him at work though, he currently is a chef at a swanky yacht club. Deacon (17) is the fishermen and he loves the water. He’s also pretty good at Top Golf. Asher (15) loves golf, animals, adventure parks, and his VR gaming.

The boys run a laser engraving business on the side. Yes… our teenage sons own and operate industrial lasers! They engrave Yetis, knives, wallets and more. Check them out at The Blaze Lazer Co.
